Starting with a mental “snapshot” of the completed painting, Alexandra works backwards, intuitively building up layer upon layer, chroma upon chroma, until reaching the original vision.
A process often fast and furious, full of joy, and entirely enthusiastic, Alexandra’s greatest conundrum is whether to throw, drip, scrape, or blot the paint. With brush, palette knife, pen, squeezy bottle, chopstick or fingers? Delicious questions. Her textured, poetry-infused pieces glow with iridescent metals, copper and gold leaf, and acrylic gloss gel.
Alexandra’s work has been shown at Sea Cider Farm & Ciderhouse and Saanich Municipal Hall and is in private and corporate collections in Canada and the UK.
